My Story: My name is Coach Deedrick and I am currently an elementary P.E. teacher in Stuart, Florida. I am just finishing up my fifth year of teaching and have split my experience in both Florida and Brooklyn, New York. I love adventure, travel, and activities that leave you with an adrenaline rush. Skydiving, bungee jumping, shark cage diving, riding an ostrich, or just running a marathon fill me with just that. I am a Midwestern girl who grew up living on the beauty of Lake Michigan. I refused to go to my first basketball practice in fourth grade because I told my mom I hated sports. Luckily for me she knew better and drove off leaving me to fend for myself in the world of organized sports. I was never the best but with a classic oldest child competitive personality I fell in love anyway. I tried everything from gymnastics to soccer to basketball, volleyball, and eventually my favorite track and field. There was something about being part of a team, pushing my body, working out with friends, competing, and failing and succeeding that left me with a desire to do this the rest of my life. In the short version I became a P.E. teacher because I love kids and have a strong belief in living a healthy lifestyle. However, in the long version I get paid to play sports all day and have countless opportunities to encourage, laugh, and share the joy of sports and physical activity with my students. I just want to see every one of them find something they enjoy and are good at and then do that the rest of their life. I want them to love and respect their bodies and take care of them the way they should and that sums up how I ended up with the best job in the world.
